The Joomla Project and the legal entity Open Source Matters maintain a number of websites, including the joomla.org domain and subdomains, joomlacode.org and opensourcematters.org.
The Joomla Project, concerned about the rights of individuals, particularly with regard to automated processing, and in a desire for transparency with its users, has put in place a policy for covering all these processing operations, the purposes pursued by the latter as well as the means of action available to individuals so that they can best exercise their rights in plain English. To make this policy easy to find, we make it available in the footer of all pages of all our domains.

Privacy on specific Joomla sites
On some sites, including extensions.joomla.org, forum.joomla.org, docs.joomla.org, resources.joomla.org, volunteers.joomla.org, magazine.joomla.org, community.joomla.org, certification.joomla.org and showcase.joomla.org you will be asked to provide an email address when registering for an account.

If you register at forum.joomla.org you can choose whether to allow other forum members to contact you by email or private messaging and the type of personal information that is available using your user profile. You can also opt to subscribe to specific forums or threads which means your email address will be used to send information when new posts are made. All emails from the forum site include a link that allows you to opt out from continued subscription to that thread or forum. Forum administrators may use your email address to contact you if necessary.
Your IP address may be used to identify duplicate user accounts (which are forbidden under the forum rules).
Cookies are used locally on users’ PC to store visitors' preferences and record past activity at a site in order to provide better service when visitors return to our site, such as indicating which threads you have read. Should you choose to edit or create wiki pages at docs.joomla.org your identity is recorded and your username is viewable by those who look at the history of the pages you have worked on. Your IP address may be used to identify possible abuse and may be blocked if abuse is detected. On docs.joomla.org you can choose to allow other users to send you email. This feature can be disabled in your user profile. Wiki administrators may still use your email address to contact you if necessary. When registering at volunteers.joomla.org, if you are a member at any level of the Joomla Project, you will be asked to provide your postal address as it is a legal requirement for our register of members. The Project may also from time to time use your address to send you promotional materials, should you not wish to receive these items, leave the related tick box unchecked.
When registering on the Volunteers’ Portal, you agree to receive notifications from the Portal via email. As this is an essential part of the function of the portal this is mandatory for all users.

Several of our domains (joomla.org, opensourcematters.org, developers.joomla.org) use Google LLC's reCAPTCHA service to protect submissions and prevent spam on the site. It checks if you are a person to prevent certain features of the website from being abused by spam bots.
By filling out the forms using this plugin, you consent to sending your IP address and possibly other data required by Google for the reCAPTCHA service. Your data will be communicated to Google and used by their services. However, your IP address will first be truncated by Google in EU Member States - or in other states that are part of the European Economic Area agreement. In exceptional cases, your full IP address will be transmitted to a Google server in the United States and then subsequently truncated. Other third party services
By visiting our websites, you agree that your browser will make a supplemental connection to our CDN (Content Delivery Network) vendor to load some of our template assets. Donations and Payments

How long do we hold your data?
The Joomla Project will only hold your information for as long as is necessary or where you ask us to delete records we may delete it earlier.
The duration for which we retain your personal information will differ depending on the type of information and the reason why it was collected. How can you access, rectify and delete your data?
Each person has a right of access, rectification and opposition to their personal data. Each person also has the right to limit the processing of personal data relating to them, the right to dereference and the right to the portability of personal data that they have transmitted to the processor.

All applications must indicate the email address where we can contact the applicant. The reply will be sent within one month of receipt of the request. This one-month period may be extended by two months if the complexity of the application and/or the number of applications so require.

What can be the other uses of my data?
Recognition
The Joomla Project is a 100% volunteer driven project. Giving recognition to its contributors is important for the project. Therefore, any contributor to Joomla allows and implicitly consents to the Joomla Project to mention their full name throughout the Joomla domains for recognition purpose.
Transfer of your data
With the exception mentioned previously, we do not share your information with third parties. On some sites, we use third-party advertising companies to serve ads when you visit our domains. These companies may use anonymous information (not including your name, address email address or phone number) about your visits to our domains in order to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you. Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. None of of our websites are structured specifically to attract anyone under 13.
